The name given by the Greeks or Romans, probably in reproach, to the followers of Jesus. It was first used at Antioch. The names by which the disciples were known among themselves were “brethren,” “the faithful,” “elect,” “saints,” “believers.” But as distinguishing them from the multitude without, the name “Christian” came into use, and was universally accepted. This name occurs but three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Pet. 4:16). Because they were Christlike in nature, not necessarily in word but in deed. They didn’t call themselves “Christians”,but the pagans called them such …the word was used originally as an adjective and not a noun.So it means they saw that particular and spectacular attitude and behavioural triat seemingly similar to that of Christ whom they crucified,so to refer to such individuals distinctly they called them Christians.
Note that the early believers were only concerned about working their salvation with fear and trembling. They did what Christ and His Spirit instructed them to do.
By reason of possessing the same spirit of Jesus Christ ,they became divine partakers of His divine nature. Hence it was a more reason for them to act as Christ.
So they had their own distinct language, which was ;LOVE. Love as we all know comes from God,also love has its own characteristics which have been listed in Galatians 5:20.Actions they say speak louder than words so they did love;which means they spoke love and acted faith.
They did not speak as the world speaks but they spoke God into their situation. Say;there is an economic meltdown and people are speaking about the situation in worry, they spoke about the situation in faith believing God was going to see them through.
Christianity lies in the heart of a believer.-Prophet TB Joshua
Christianity lies in the heart of a believer.Christianity in its actual spiritual sense evolves from the relationship an individual has with God,His heavenly Father.Such a person seeks God always and meditates on the law of the Lord and is able to act accordingly to what the Word teaches and speaks about.Such an individual, fellowships with God;that is moves with God.
Therefore A Christian is one who has a relationship with God the Father and encounters GOD daily.
